Notched T waves in young persons with central nervous system lesions.

چکیده
A STRIKING, characteristic, electrocardiographic pattern associated with central nervous system (CNS) lesions, particularly subarachnoid hemorrhage, has been described.1-3 The combination of prolonged Q-T interval and large upright or deeply inverted T waves was originally described in association with cerebrovascular accidents and has come to be recognized as the typical CNS electrocardiogram. It has since become apparent that a wide variety of CNS lesions including trauma, infection, and tumor may be associated with such ECG abnormalities.4 5 In addition, patients with CNS lesions frequently show less striking S-T or T abnormalities which are not recognized as specffic for CNS lesions and cannot be distinguished from nonspecific abnormalities due to ischemic heart disease, electrolyte abnormalities, drugs, and so forth.4-6 The number of reports of ECG abnormalities with CNS lesions has grown rapidly and an extensive bibliography is included in a recent review by Russell.7

Liver Damage and Mortality in a Male Lewis Rat of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis
Background and Objectives: Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system. This is due to migration of peripherally activated lymphocytes to central nervous system leading to inflammatory lesions. However, liver has an anti-inflammatory microenvironment. Myelin expression in the liver of transgenic mice suppresses inflammatory lesions within central nervous system. ...
متن کاملA Case Report of Primary Angiitis of the Central Nervous System
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Primary angiitis of the central nervous system (PACNS) is an inflammatory vasculitis with very low frequency and prevalence. It is not clear why the inflammatory process of this disease is limited to cerebrovascular disease without systemic manifestations. A case of primary angiitis of the central nervous system with cerebrovascular manifestations is reported here. C...

Introduction: Bifid T waves are seen in healthy young children and alcoholic adults. They also occur in certain pathological conditions, including organic heart diseases, and the central nervous system disorder. Myocardial ischemia can affect T wave morphology in a variety of ways one of which is t wave change as bifid t wave observed in QTc prolongation forms oc-curring in acute coronary event...
متن کاملThe significance of notched upright T waves.
Cardiological texts yield scant information on the significance of notching of upright T waves. White (1948) states briefly: " The T wave is frequently diphasic but rarely notched ... A late notch or dip in a low T wave in lead II suggests the effect of heart position in an otherwise normal person." Katz (1947) points out that notching of the T wave is abnormal in the limb leads but may be obse...
